Our Changing District (The Urban Institute's Microtrend Series)


Have you checked out the Urban Institutes's series on Washington DC called Our Changing City? It's super interesting for the on again off again data nerd that I am.



The study looks at demographic trends in DC between 2000 and 2010. The most recent installment talks about how demographic shifts are driving up enrollment in the District's schools for the first time since the 1960's.

Hopefully the District will address these changes sooner rather than later so that families continue to stay here rather than move to the suburbs. The Washington Post outlines the current proposal for District schools that is being floated by the city.
