Toddler Tableware

Lunea Dinnerware from Crate and Barrel

I recently found these melamine plates on sale at Crate and Barrel.  I purchased them in a sky blue and in a red brick.  I really like how they are just regular old plates free of cartoons, animal drawings and unnecessary sections.  What types of plates do your toddlers eat on?

Gifts in Gold (HwK's Holiday Gift Guide)

By now you've probably seen at least a dozen gift guides.  If you are like me, you've missed Black Friday, and Cyber Monday and you are already anxious about the shipping windows for a timely holiday delivery.

So, why not make things easy and absurd and get all of your gifts in one color? This year, HwK going for the gold, well gold gifts that are under $100 dollars.  Because who would complain about opening something with a little sparkle?

Annie Glass Heart Bowl- Tiny but elegant
Jonathan Adler Zebra Stacking Dish- For the temptress
Monogram Throw Pillow- Good for grownups, recent college grads and babies
West Elm Tray- Available in other colors and looks good in any home
Agate Coasters- Because if you are going to gift coasters they should be gorgeous
Jonathan Adler Gold Candle- 40 dollars for a candle?? I know, but they smell and look great.

Heath Ceramics (Dining Loves)

I just discovered Heath Ceramics this summer. If you live on the West Coast you might think that I've been living under a rock.

Summer Bag Watch (The Herschel Novel Duffle)

We were away last weekend for my husband's college reunion.  One of the things I love about travelling and taking small getaways is that you get out of your routine and see things you don't see on your average day.

Now I could tell you about the lovely exhibit we saw, the new people we met, the music we listened to, and so on, but for this post I'm going to tell you about a bag I discovered: the Herschel Novel Duffle.

I love that this bag has a compartment for shoes that seemed large enough to fit sneakers or a pair of men's oxfords.  The interior of the bag also has several pockets so you could easily place things like your keys or sunglasses.  The cross body strap makes it easy to carry.

Do you have a special bag for short getaways?

Summer Bag Watch (State of Escape, Escape Bag)

I'm loving this neon yellow bag from State of Escape.  It is roomy and bright.  Perfect for the beach or walking around town.  And get this, you can actually wash it.  The mom in me is very excited about the last part. H/T to Little Miss Party.

Giraffe Gifts (Thinking Outside the Sophie)

1. Aiden and Anais Dream Blanket 2. Jonathan Adler Pillow 3. Foxy Vida Wet Bag 4. Jellycat Giraffe
5. Honest Diapers 6.  Mud Pie Paci Clip 7. Giraffe Push Toy

I'm not sure what it is about giraffes that make them so lovable and therefore the perfect animal to go on just about any baby item. Perhaps it's the spots, or maybe it's the long neck. . . who knows. And while Sophie is a cute gift, there are so many other giraffe options out there. Just take a look.

Handle with Karo's Mother's Day Gift Guide 2014

Mother's Day is two weeks from yesterday.   HwK's suggestions.

David Yurman's Aluminum Cuffs (Two Cuffs for the Price of One)

Have you seen the David Yurman anniversary aluminum cuffs? They came out in February. I love the monochrome look.  An added bonus is that since they are made out of aluminum the price point is low enough that you can buy two cuffs for the price of one of the standard silver and gold cuffs.

This would be a great graduation or Mother's Day gift.

Easter Inspiration

After a cold, long winter, Easter has a way of creeping up on you.  We are staying in town this year, heading to church and then having some friends over for something simple afterwards.  Hopefully I will have time to get some flowers and maybe dye a few eggs.

Below are some photos of pretty but understated Easter tablescapes.  It's possible to be festive without using Easter Bunnies!

Oh and, check out these tips on how to organize an easy and fun Easter Egg Hunt.

Why Didn't I Think of That? (Knock Knock Company Boxes)

For those of you who know me well you know that while organization might not come naturally to me, I love organizing and even more than organizing I love, love, love, making trips to the container store.  What you all might be surprised to know is that I have a box in my closet labeled "things I don't want to deal with," and other one labeled "clothes I'm not ready to say goodbye to."  Imagine how excited I was when I saw these storage boxes from Knock Knock. Too bad I didn't figure out how to market my own boxes. . .

Bookends (Decor for the Generations)

The End Bookend CB2/ Whale Bookend Jonathan Adler/ James the Bookend available at the Moma Store/ Menagerie Bookends by Serena and Lily/ Imm Living's Bookend

Just because you have children doesn't mean everything you buy for your home has to be baby-fied.  There are so many playful objects d'art out there that are fun and appeal to the aesthetics of both grownups and little ones alike. Take these bookends.  Some of them are designed with children in mind and others are not, but they are all playful.  Did you incorporate decor in your home that both you and your kids could enjoy?
